need all weather tires: 2019 limited

Need advice.

Want some good quality all weather tires for my 2019 4 runner limited.
Year round use.
The snow flake rating is required in some parts of BC where I live.
I do not need aggressive quasie off road tires.

I considered buying 18" rims, winter tires, and doing the swap 2x per year.
2 tire dealers advised no due to recalibration requirements each time

Stock tires are 245/60/R20
Looked on line and found they are supposed to be 31.5" diameter.

I looked at some Michelin all weathers in a size close to mine.
But they do not give the diameter on the website.

advice please...

have you looked at tirerack.com? i would suggest starting there since they have recommendations and do reviews on tires.

Had the same thoughts recently, decided to just go with another set of new OEM Rims (TRD OR). Was able to pick them up for $650 I thought that was decent, and just had the Michelin X Ice 2's put on them with aftermarket sensors at $50 each.

So total out with taxes I'm into that for almost 2K but I know the benefit of dedicated winter tires for sure. You may not need them in your parts. Not sure if you have Active Green & Ross out there but that place matched every other place I checked in the GTA. & sensor calibration literally takes 5 mins.

Guy told me to just wheel back in when I put them on no appointment required. Free puncture repairs there too and the Michelin's have a 60K warranty. Going to replace my stock Dueller tires next year as well I think, they ain't so hot.

I put a set of Goodyear WeatherReady tires on my wife's 2018 Crosstrek and they are an excellence tire. In the winter driving the tires completely changed the handling to what an AWD should be. Also summer driving the tires were quiet and comfortable. I see they make a 255/55/20 which is only slightly smaller than OEM.

FYI, you have a Limited, not Unlimited, unless you have a Wrangler.

Not sure what they mean by re calibration. There shouldn't be any reason why you can't just get a second set of wheels and throw snow tires on.

Yeah I presumed you can't have 8 programmed into the vehicle? ( 4 OEM and 4 aftermarket ). And since I had the rims in boxes and they were not going on the truck yet I presumed you can't program 4 new ones while the OEM's are on there either hence why I have to go back to the shop for 5 mins while they program the winter ones.

Now since they are aftermarket I'm also presuming in Spring I have to return for another 5 mins when the OEM's go back on as the system won't be looking for those... not a big deal it's not like there's a charge in fact they would do all the swaps for free since I bought the tires there I just like to do it myself as well as rotations and such.

After running two Canadian winters on my Michelin Premier LTX 245/60R20 Michelin Premier all-season tires (20" Limited rims), I began searching for a second set of OEM alloy rims last summer (2018) to run a set of dedicated winters.

I found some 2018 TRD Off-Road take-off rims with very low mileage at a reasonable price, and then installed Toyo Observe GSi-5 265/70R17 winter tires. Fit perfectly on my 2011 Limited.

The Toyos did a very good job up here in Northern Ontario.

Having a second set of rims removes some of the hassle associated with the seasonal changeovers with only one set of rims. The winter rims may take a beating (corrosion!) if road salt is used on your BC roads. That is why I decided not to run steelies - they rust far too quickly here in Northern Ontario.

I also did not put TPMS sensors in the winter tire/rims. I do not get any low tire pressure warning lights on the dash because the Limited has a sensor in the spare tire. All I have to do is manually check the tire pressures every week or two.

First thing I did when I bought my limited was to ditch the 20" wheels and go with 17"s - just saying...

I run Cooper AT3 4S and they are snowflake rated and awesome year around..

I vé had yokohama geolander AT's for the past 3 seasons and they have been fantastic. They did really well in the last snow storm when we had 300 accidents in Colorado. I go sking up the slope and have never had any issues or lack of confidence in these tires.

Or do what I do. I just use a regular valve stem on my KO2 tires (no tpms) and put a small piece of electrical tape over the light on the dash.

[MENTION=346180]4runnerinbc[/MENTION] A lot of the Canucks on mud and the GX forum run Nokian either as their dedicated winter tires or the all weather version. The leafs that run a dedicated winter tire are mainly running the Nokian Hakkapeliitta. I haven't seen any negative reviews for that specific tire.

When I lived in the snow belt, I used the info on Tirerack to assist. Their tire ratings are customer survey based plus they have the specs for all the tires they sell. I needed the revolutions per mile so I could adjust my speedometer calibration on my Mustang.

Here are a couple of threads that discuss two sets of wheels, TPMS codes and calibration, etc. You may have a TPMS sensor in your spare. I have two sets of 17 inch Toyota wheels now. Blizzaks in winter are great with all the electronics on the AWD Limited. Summer are Bridgestone; we live on a dirt road, but mostly pavement driving. Our Winters are too severe to have one type of tire year round.

On our 98 limited we ran all-seasons all year Toyo's. This was many many trip up skiing etc... Never once has a grip issue. I always had chains in the back in case. Chains were brand new unused after 200,000 miles.

On our 2018Ltd I will not be buying 2 sets of dedicated rims/tire. To each their own though. Just my opinion

^^^this right here. Dedicated winter tires on a separate set of wheels. Don't kid yourself: "all-season" tires are not for drivers who deeply experience 4 actual seasons which include weeks or months in a real winter. They're for drivers from more temperate climates who occasionally get a light dusting of snow or a heavy frost and still want to make it to work, or take a run up to the ski chalet. That's all fine, just pick the right tools for the job at hand.
