That sounds like a good idea, but man, you are getting something so close to what you want to have in a couple years.

Buy the 3rd gen, love the 3rd gen, forget the 4th gen.
 
I do love the 3rd gen and I don't even own one yet! Eventually we'll have to let the 3rd gen go...we'll have to let them go. Lol...


I didn't ask him, because most people don't even know and I don't want to raise any assumed interest in it, but was the e-locker an option in 98? I'd go search but I'm trying to do work right now...crazy I know.
 
Scratch that one...it's spent the first 100K miles of it's life between New Jersey and Virginia. I'm not interested in anything from up there as it likely has rust issues. Been there done that, don't want it anymore.
 
if you are willing to travel, there are several I came across in my search down here in FL. I was using cars.com and autotrader and searching within like 500 miles of Orlando. Just happened to find mine 15 miles from my house so I didnt have to travel. The 2007 Odyssey I just bought my wife was in South Carolina. We were very specific with what we were looking for though and were willing to travel so we did. Some 4Runners I looked at were in Florida their whole life, never up north. Newer cars I wouldnt worry about so much, even a 3rd gen 4Runner is probably ok man. Lots of people I know up north have beaters they drive around in during the winter months. Keep looking, you'll find the right one mate.

Hey! I resent that! lol

I'm on Long Island and my truck is rust free...VA thru NY you don't have to worry- it's the New England trucks that get hammered

What he said...I just helped a friend get a 99 4wd sport that spent half it's life up north. I went over that thing pretty well and found no rust at all! You can't assume like that...just gets pics of the undercarriage before you travel!
