I see such a broad range of speeds whenever I'm on the freeway, so I was wondering:

How fast you do you usually travel when you're on one?

In our neck of the woods (Orange County, CA) if you aren't going 80+ on the freeway you get cutoff and one-finger saluted!

Ain't that the truth! :zoom:

It's weird, though...on my weekly commute to Riverside (where the speed limit gets up to 70 MPH), I see people going as slow as 68, and as fast as 105!

Not only that but using a turn signal to change lanes is simply a sign of weakness.:D

Agreed.

Plus it's a signal for the other guy to speed up and close the gap!

If you are racing then I agree...but for normal driving, not turning the signal before changing lane is dangerous - especially in city highway.

I didn't mean to imply that I don't signal. I was just venting frustrations at the way people drive.

It seems that whenever I see a gap and signal to enter that gap, the guy behind speeds up to close the gap (this effect happens more often when driving a van, SUV, or large truck).

I believe Mark was being funny with his remark too.

edit: I never street race either (not at my age!).

Oh, It's my bad. Yes, I've seen it happened too. To be honest, I once in a while did actually try to close the gap only if someone was trying to cut in without any giving any signal.

I personally like to run fast (not street racing with others). However, not with my 4Runner, I keep it below 70 miles/hr on the highway. For me, sporty car is easier to handle while changing lane with high speed than SUV. This is my first SUV so I'm still learning how to handle it well.

While crusing from one city to another (like austin to dallas or houston) I normally go 10-15 sometimes 20 miles over the speed limit. Normal local everyday driving maybe 5-10 over......... Funny though, I only use my signals when cops are around, or when I am bored..........

Except when you're going through Selma and Schertz, right? Or are you related to a DPS officer that patrols that area....?

Last september, I got the wreckless driving ticket for 23 miles over the limit...Lucky for me since it doesn't effect my insurrance price

I gotta alot of time on those roads; add in San Antonio.:bandito:

And it was the likes of Selma and Schertz on I 35 that taught me to buy the best radar detector you could lay $ on...

I want a concealed V1 in my '04 Sport -- can you give me some details?

Thanks in advance.

Ohhhh man, I want to STAB people who don't use their turn signal. That's one thing that just gets under my skin, its right there, you don't even have to move your hand far, just click the switch. I'd at least like to know when I'm about to get cut off...

I drive 75 on the freeway. Unless the speedlimit is 75, then I go 80 - 85. On the highway between here and Flagstaff for example, I usually set the cruise at 85 until I get there. My V1 tells me if I need to slow down... :D

:iagree:

I try to go at a speed that won't attract the attention of the local revenue collection agency, nor piss anyone off.

i usually drive about 5-10 over the speed limit. But when i owned my 86 jetta, i did barry the speedometer. I was flying, good thing there was no cops around.

I usually go 5-10 over... depending on the street. One hting that bugs me is that people in the left lane usually go 5 under..... and they don't get the clue to move over to the next lane when they have piles of car behind them and none in front........
