need help 00 4runner

hi 4runner guys and gals. anyone having trannsmission problems? because i am having some!! i have a 2000 4runner limited v6. 4wd. thing is when its cold it takes long time to respond to trottle imput ,and sometimes lurches a bit after 1-2 miles drives fine atf is brand new , correct amount, my friend sugested i change the battery because of selenoids nedeing more power to shift battery seems fine 2 years it is interstate any info / suggestions greatly appreciated truck has 154000 miles just broken in right?? sold my 1991 with 416,000 miles manual he he. first automatic so a little concerned with new to me truck tanks from id

you might have some problems but the transmissions on these will only shift 1-2 until warm and then shift smoothly. Usually takes a mile or two. I really doubt it is your battery, but might as well through a multi meter on it to check.

Yeah mine does the same thing. It was kind of scary at first but one day I turned it on and waiting bout 5 minutes before putting it in drive and it didn't happen. Figured it had to warm up. I usually wait till it quiets down a bit then take off. If you pay attention you will hear the engine quiet down but the rpms won't drop till you put it in drive.

I don't think it is the battery, once the engine runs, the alternator supplies all the power to the truck in addition to charging/ topping of the battery.

All these do this, I believe it is programmed into the ECU to get the exhaust system and oxygen sensors up to temp fast for emissions standards.
