Need help ASAP installing toytec lift!

Got my Toytec Boss ultimate lift in today super excited but
two things
1) i had all day to do the front 4 bolts a side , I've only gotten one off……the three on the top mount are all so rusted and no sign of bolt or nut…oy!:wtf:

what do i do now?? I've been grinding and grinding to no luck thinking if i get them felt i can hit them with a cutting wheel like a pizza and break it out the bottom? any tricks?

Also do you adjust these coil over once they are installed? if they are tightened all the way towards the top i will see a 3" lift?

No way you're getting those other 3 bolts off..

I work at an off road shop and when we see this happen the bolts are usually seized. Most likely have to be cut and drilled out, but with the way that upper shock mount looks you might wanna consider getting a new one welded on. I do have to say though, i like your choice in lift kit. I'm getting the boss kit pretty soon.

Use a reciprocating saw to cut them off, the two in the front will be easy to cut off, to get to the back just cut off the center shock piece as well, if the back one is still being difficult, use a air chisel or if you dont have one use a nice sized chisel and a big hammer. id stay away from cutting off the whole shock tower, it shouldnt come to that just because the bolts are seized..... only a butcher would resort to that... no offense T4Rzuniga

And yes, if you tighten the coils all the way up, youll have a 3 inch lift, but i thought the toytec ultimate lift gave you a 3.5 inch lift. you can adjust them before or after there installed, just jack the car up when lifting/lowering the coils if there installed

Good advice. I was in the same boat as you. I cut mine off with a dremel tool and a smalll cutting wheel I think.

I think I bought replacement coil seats on amazon for under $20 a piece or so.

Just cut them off you don't need to worry about saving the top hat since the lift you choose is fully assembled with a new top hat and bolts.

geez you think getting one welded on is necessary? i guess whenever i finally get these things off ill see whats left :-/

yea I've been wanting tho lift it for along time and the boss lift is so sexy! too bad i cant put her on yet!!

Don't cut the center bolt, only cut/ grind off the three small ones. The rear most is an odd angle for a grinder but is doable >ask me how I know.

Once the nuts are cut off the shock fall off, no welding or tapping as said above...

If you have oxyacetylene I would just burn the bolts off.

its not a regular saw, its reciprocating saw with a straight blade and yes you can get it in there, much easier then using a grinder. No its not super dangerous to cut the center bolt.....just dont be too close when you do lol itll just bounce down apart when its cut. but if you too scarred for something like this, go buy a jeep you p**sy :madgrin: jk jk

I'm not sure if it's that bad it could be just a layer, but check to make sure it hasn't eaten through the metal when you do get it off.
Definetly looking forward to seeing how the boss lift does look though.

I used a porter cable grinder with a 4" cut off wheel. I threw some stuff behind all of it to protect the stuff behind the strut. It's a pain in the ass but doable. I wouldn't recommend an oxy acetylene torch though due to the collateral damage of using one. Rust sucks.

Edit: You may be cutting too high on the nut also. Try and get it flush with the upper mount.

Thanks for chiming in guys as soon as it's installed I will get some poser pics up lol I've got all day Sundays and most if Sunday to get it done had to cut out Early truck by day musician by night! Played Orange County choppers tonite lots of fun!

Any ways back to the lift 2 of 3 are off still working on the last one! Will keep posted!

I think it's more than the bolts being seized, that tower looks pretty rusted up too. Hard to tell from the pics but the integrity of the tower could be compromised with that much rust. Maybe once it's all cleaned up it might be easier to reassess. Replacing the tower would be a last resort unless it's compromised.

Wow! That's ugly man. If I were you, I'd heat the piss out of them until they're glowing red. Then attack the nuts with a pair of vice grips. Grinder idea probably works too but I've never gone that route.

Unfortunetly the lift is no where near done because the upper ball joints and end links are shot so I'm foing those while I'm in here feel like I'm rebuilding the whole truck!! Every single thing has been a absolute pita due to the rust :-/

ha thanks guys yea the rust is a real bummer! lets hope for a frame recall!!!
anyways lift is finally done , absolutely terrible experience ended up doing ball joints, front and rear sway bar end links while i was in there as well as killiing some rust and por 15 the rest , still lots of frame to cover in the por 15 . Ill get some pics tomm!!
