need help ASAP

Ah crap so i got my tuck today and started it up and shut it off and i couldn't my key out and the transmission is stuck in park. what the hell did i do?? please help

You could try the shift lock release.

Or the tumbler could be worn, try jiggling the steering wheel while pulling on the key.

ok so now, i checked the fuses and when i take the accesory fuse that powers my deck the keys came out but it is still stuck in park. brake lights do come on and yes it does start

its the wierdest thing, ive tried the shift lock button and nothing, so i put the fuse back in and it just lockes back in. i take the fuse out and the keys come out. here is what happen all i did was replace the light on the bottom of the shifter casue it was burned out, and all i did was unscrew the trim and put it in and screwed it back in, hmmmmm this sucks!

Hey all, thanks for all your help i think i got it fixed, That scared tha shiz out of me. Bootown i took it apart and i unscewed the shifter handle and pressed down on it. it seemed there was some play so i held it down and screwed it back in and now it will shift. (before it wasn't going anywhere) so i think that buttun wasn't pressing the safety switch down enough or something. But now my truck is having a hard time starting... dah! i unhooked the battery while the key was stuck, to see if i could reset the security settings but i unhooked the positive on accident. i think i was more worried about gettin the car moving lol! so i think my battery just needs to charge now, i duno. im glad its working now.
as for the balck pearls, ya i was just told a while ago that they were no longer selling them. there are some online but only 2 i think. and they are way too expensive. i think i may go with a flat black instead. i duno i gotta change that haha

false alarm, k i went out to drive around for a bit and when i pulled in a parking place it would not go into park it stops in reverse and it also wont go into low crazy toyota, i didn't know one llittle light would make it throw such a fit.

edit: its wierd, so i unscrewed the 2 little screws on the shifter and and twisted around a couple times and i was able to put it back in to park. it seems like the button on top gets stuck but i duno maybe its fixed now, and ya the wire to light doesn't seem to be blocking that piece you were talking about. this is so wierd

i know on mine i couldnt take the key out of the ignition unless the battery was disconnected, so got around to it and the solenoid on top of the lock cylinder had gone bad so i cut the sucker off, works fine now

so this morning i went out and played with it a bit and sure enough the key still gets stuck. So i took the shift handle/button thing off and rotated it around once and now it seems to work, the button gets a little sticky sometimes though.
where is the lock cylinder your talking about? is that in the ignition?

yeah thats what your key goes into and turns, mine would always get stuck at Acc unless the battery was disconnected. But yeah theres a solenoid on top the died so i removed it

i have the same problem. so did you replace it?
