Need help ASAP!

Alright guys,
i tried researching but not finding clear answers.
My problem is it was time for new plugs, so i went down to the local auto store and they gave me what they recommended. Went home, started wrenching and noticed they gave me single electrode spark plugs, and the OEM were multi electrode. So i hop on the computer and research the crap they gave me. "Alright, these NGK's are suitable" i tell myself after reading off their website. I finish the job and start her up. WOOO, one speed. Then i added some throttle and it bogssss! :wtf:

I shut her off, and decide to swap back to my OEM spark plugs since they were in O.K. condition. Still!, the same problem!!

So i clean my MAF sensor in hope. NEGATIVEEEE.

Now i have a toyota 4runner, that starts, but bogs when i give throttle. ANDDDDD, theres NO check engine light :wtf: again


Can someone please help me! I have school in 10 hrs and wouldnt mind staying up to fix this

Hmmm...no check engine light...

Well the only things to come to my mind that could be wrong are a bad throttle position sensor or 02 sensor.

Sorry if this doesn't really help!
 
right now i'm in the garage spraying all my sensors. figured might as well, and i hope to god that it works. haha
 
Go back over the plugs, wires and coils...I'm 99% sure it's something you did when you were changing the plugs. Also look around for vacuum lines disconnected.
 
Maybe broke a plug wire on the inside? It wouldn't be obvious. Not sure if that'd give you a check engine right away but you could have some missing and bogging down.
 
I agree with LINY4Runner. Double check everything you messed with. When you did the plugs, did you do them one at a time, or take everything out at once?
 
Make sure there's no water or anything like that in the plugs. If there's any fluid in there you are just going to have to crank it until it dries out
 
i took out the new plugs and installed the old ones back in. still no luck. i did them one by one so no wires got mixed up or anything like that, and i'm 100% certain water didnt get inside while i was doing it.

i couldnt find any missing, or dangling vacuum lines...i'll keep looking though i guess.

well i'm in school right now and i'm reading over my thread again and this makes sense. maybe wires in side tore is whats bugging me now..

BUT, its not missing on idle or anything. so i become confused again. Haha

Oh, and Hawaii has a tsunami watch so its been one hell of a start this week

..if the wires are bad. When I used to drag race someone told me to mess up a stock wire set just "snap" them by pulling them fast but not too hard. The carbon strands will break just enough to increase the resistance by a lot but the car will start and run. Just when you gas it it will start falling flat real fast.

Ever run solid copper core wires? Unbelievable, except it will cause all kinds of intereference with radios and stuff.

How do you know about the Tsunami warning? I just heard it on the radio while driving.
 
yeah i'm from Hilo. i was up till 2 trying to figure this stuff out and fell asleep in my 8 o clock class. haha. when i woke up, my friends told me that we have a watch.

i wish they just cancel school, for everyones safety...and so i can have time to resolve this problem
 
I'm having the same problem with my 2nd gen. So far I changed the MAF, the spark plug cables, and cleaned it with see foam and I got nothing. I was thinking o2 sensor, but I've been to several local shops and they say it wouldn't be the o2 sensor. I called the toyota dealer today and just off the top of their heads they said throttle sensor or something with the throttle body. Now to make everything easier you would think to just take it a place to run a diagnostic test, but time is on the line here and you can't be waiting for that day you can be fit into their schedule. Not to mention you want to take it somewhere close because you can't get over 15mph. It's frustrating. Now it's goin' in to the toyota shop thursday. Soonest I can get it looked at. I will post the details/results. Be sure to post the outcome on your 4R. Thanks!

Problem WAS the spark plug wires. I prolly stretched them out too far while changing the plugs..

funny thing was, after i fixed it, the check engine light came on :crybaby:

i pulled the code and it ended up running lean for some reason. so i cleared the code and it hasnt shown up since. i think since it wasnt running correctly, the computer was trying to compensate for it, and when i finally fixed it, it had to do it again.

the light came back on..i dont understand how its running lean since nothing changed, unless my o2 sensor went bad. ughhh, i'll try again tomorrow
