NEED HELP Asap!

MY TRUCK had a hole in the radiator yesterday. i filled it up and on the way home at a traffic light my 4runner shut off. went to start it and it had difficulty starting. then when it did start it sounded like i had an engine knock! i checked my oil, transmission fluid, and radiator coolant and all were topped off except the radiator coolent. so i topped it offf. so i continued to drive home and when i didn't get on the gas too hard it wouldn't knock. got it home and let it sit til over night. this morning i put a new radiator in it. checked the fluids and started it up. STILL KNOCKS don't know why!? Any Ideas.! please help me out asap

You have probably caused some serious damage to your engine due to overheating. Engines do not like running too hot for too long. You will be lucky if you do not need to rebuild your engine.

You may have done a number of things up to and including warping the block.

Get ready to pay some bucks... chances are your engine is on its last legs. Change oil... it will probably smell burned.

i was watching my temp guage the whole time and it never overheated. not throwing any codes at all. idk whats happening though. like it runs strong it just sputters alot!

Was the water pump ever pumping air?

... your water pump is connected to your timing belt, after all.

i will have to check it..... i mean what if it wasn't pumping air. my dad said it kinda sounds like a valve is sticking. and also my #1 plug wire is getting spark and when you disconnect it from the spark plug it donsn't change anything!

It could be oil pump bearings or a slapping piston.The key is to pin point the noise. I think you should remove the spark plugs one at a time and see if you can isolate the cylinder noise by process of elimination( a cheap listening device like a stethoscope, or even a long screwdriver with your ear at one end could do the job). once you have isolated the cylinder then remove the plug squirt a couple of squirts of oil, replace the plug. if you have piston slap, the noise will be really low or completely eliminated for about ten minutes and then it will come right back. Also Rod knocks are loudest at higher speed usally over 2000 rpms. revving the gas pedal will produce a distintive back rattle between 2000rpm and 3000rpm, it will sound like a hard pinging knock with a muffled aluminum piston(klock) knock. hope it helps

Ha... I didn't think anyone else besides me did that any more. :guitar2:

... but unfortunatelythe conclusion we have arrived at so far is that it could be anything...

This may take a while... eliminate things one by one. I'm still leaning towards, although hoping it is not an overheating issue.

ya so we pulled off my # 6 plug wire, took out the plug and found out i have a blown piston frickin great.

and i have a 1989 toyota 4 runner with a 3.0 v6. anyone have one for sale in florida.
