Need help! Bilstein 5100 very odd problem

Hi all. I'm relatively new to the forum and don't have the required 15 replies to post, so I'm hoping someone can get this to the right forum for me.

I have a 2011 SR5 with Premium and Convenience packages. I decided I wanted to do a minor lift, so I opted for the Bilstein 5100 at 1.75" in the front and Bilsteins with a Daystar 1.5" spacers in the rear.

So last night I installed the front shocks with the factory springs. I consider myself very mechanically inclined and have always done my own work. Compressing those springs was no picnic, but we got it done. When we put back on the stock wheels, I now have a 5" lift on the front! I went from 19.5" center hub to base of wheel well to 25"! The upper control arm is extended fully down. It appears to have no room for downward travel.

I installed Bilstein part 24-196499 with the stock spring. Now I'm wondering if this is not a stock spring, so it is extending the shock to full downward with very little give on the upstroke. Thoughts? Help!

Just did the 5100's on my Trail last weekend -

100%, for sure, your problem is the spring perch. Its upside down as stated above. Flip that over and everything will be back to the way its supposed to be.

Dang. That's a bummer. You'll be good at taking it apart now though. Good experience for your next shock replacement.
