I would also consider going into the dealership in person and see if they can do something to remedy this situation.
Think about it, you just purchased a premium-priced 4Runner, an used vehicle with a great resale value which is always a plus in Toyota dealers' eyes considering how popular 4Runner/Tacomas are in general from their dealership. They'd want you to come back in the future or spread the word to others about how great of an experience you had with this particular transaction. I think you should ask to meet with the service director instead of waiting on the sales agent and talk to him about the situation.
I'm actually more curious regarding this 4Runner you just picked up. Do you know how long it was on the lot for before you purchased the 4Runner?
When I first bought my '99 4R, it just literally came off the truck a day before and I bought it right away when I came across the listing. I had to come back 2 days later because the battery on the 4Runner went bad so I'm like, "fellas I just purchased this 4Runner from you guys less than a week ago...and now the battery is dead. Is there something that can be done here?" I did not have to ask for the service director as the service manager replaced it free of charge no questions asked. They earned my business after that incident and I still remain a loyal customer to this day.
Point being, don't deal with sales lackeys. They already earned their commission from the transaction and probably won't care enough to follow up on your issue post-sale. Ask for the service director directly - I'm positive the director will come up with a solution that works for both parties. Give it a shot and report back!
