So after a weekend of hard wheeling, I am experiencing some issues.
I tried to shift into 4hi from 4lo while the truck was still moving in neutral and heard some grinding (I know... dumb). I am wondering if this could be the cause of my issues.
In 2hi:
I was experiencing clunking noise during turns, marble rolling noises, vibrations at 55+, and some clunking noises.
I think that the driver side CV was busted so I replaced that. Looks like I over-extended it? The vibration at 65+ is gone, the marble noise is gone, and the clunk noise is gone when making turns in 2hi.
However!! In reverse, I am still occasionally feeling HEAVY resistance and loud clunks that are vibrating the whole truck.
In 4lo/4hi:
I am hearing some really bad clunking noises when turning and when disengaging from 4hi to 2hi. I know this could also be attributed to low diff fluid or just not having the fluid warmed up... But this clunk is WAY different than I have ever felt in the runner.
In conclusion, I am pretty sure i broke a spider gear in my front diff because all of these noises seem to be coming from the front.
Does reverse use the front diff at all? That would explain why i am feeling the clunk in 2hi REVERSE & 4lo/hi when turning/disengaging.
Otherwise, I am afraid I have destroyed something in my transmission.
Please help!
