Need Help Doors Keep Unlocking Themselves!!!

I have a 1993 4Runner and today the doors decided that they won't stay locked? If I try and lock them they just pop back up? I heard that it could be some censer thing in the door, but I don't know. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Are they power or manual? My manual ones you have to hold the door handle up while closing the door.

They're power, I press the power lock and they all lock, and then they all unlock? I tried manually locking all of them, but as soon as I lock the 4th door they all unlock! Its weird? I literally cant lock my vehicle with me on the outside!

i would say its the switch
if you press to lock and the contacts are somehow springing or connecting to the unlock after some time it is possible.

I bet it has something to do with the key hole for your ignition. Your 93 won't stay locked if the keys are in the ignition. There is maybe a broken sensor in there that thinks the key is still in. Unless your trying to lock it with the key still in.. If so, take it out!

Yes my key is out of the ignition. It is difficult to put the key in the ignition sometimes, so that could be the case. Its quite irritating! Thanks for the impute.

I have a somewhat related question. I just acquired a 1995 SR5 and was wondering about the doorlocks, do these vehicles have an auto-lock feature that when the vehicle is put into drive, or is moving, that the doors will automatically lock?

Just curious; your 4runner doesn't have any sort of aftermarket alarm does it? Or any remnants of an old aftermarket alarm that was previously installed at some point?

I would bet it's in the ignition switch. It's an idiot proof ignition because it doesn't let you lock your keys in the car, nifty when it works, pain when it breaks. I would be willing to put money on that. Also though it's possible what Bad_Vision said though with it being a bad switch, could try unhooking the switch after pulling the panel off and then try locking it.

Check your door sensor. If I have the door open and lock it, it locks for a second then unlocks itself.

I don't know if Toyota has a weight sensor under the drivers seat, if they do that would be another sensor to check out.

Well for now I put a piece of ductape over the door senser and that fixed it? Still doesn't put my mind at ease though.
