Need Help Fast PLEASE

I did not hear a thing from the dealer until the 11th day. Still there was no mention of turning it in, just past emplyment stuff.

Jeremy,

I live in the Chicagoland Area and this kind of scam I personally went thru once . But I know a lot of people who had gone thru this same scam and let me tell you , this is nothing but scam and you'd be surprised how many people they've suckered (that I know of)
My recommendation (which worked with me that one time) tell them they can have the car/truck back , after putting so many miles and being out on it a lot more than the test drive, you realized this thing does not suit your taste or driving style and you've been trying to figure out how to get rid of it short of trading it. Tell them you would like to be at their office first thing in the morning and you will give the keys back to them as soon as they give you a check for the whole amount of cash you spent on it when you bought it, not just downpayment but also the processing fee down to the last penny.
Please post whatever happens , as I am sure everyone else in this forum would be interested to know what happens next. I'm sure if it's a scam here it's a scam where you live too.

I had the same problem you are having when I was stationed in Cal. I bought a Honda and they said that the financing was good, payments were good to go and that there were no problems. About 2 weeks later they called and said that they couldn't finance me at the rate they quoted. They said I either needed to put more money down or raise the intrest rate. Being in the military, I went to our Legal Office. I took my copy of the contract in, and they reviewed it. They told me to go to a civilian attorney and have them persue this, as they cannot. I contacted my fathers lawer, faxed him the entire contract and the time they contacted me. Not less than 2 hours after he contacted the dealership, they called me (dealership) and asked why I went to a lawyer. I told them it was in my best intrest and that we were ready to go to court, because they were breaking the contract. I didn't hear anything for about a week and then got a letter in the mail saying that there was a mixup at the dealership it was a clerical error or something. What I later found out is, if they couldn't get financing what was quoted or what no on the contract, then they (dealership) had to eat the extra cost or finance it themselves. Just thought I would share my experience with you. Hope it all works out and this might have helped out a bit.

Sounds like a scam so I have to disagree with p53. I say you call back the salesman that sold you the T4R (he's your stealership contact; remember, he's the one that made the paltry commission.) Make it one call only (document the date and time; don't let him transfer you to anyone else.) Firmly say you enjoy the T4R, that it is now legally yours and you have a contract to prove it, you will not be participating in any refinacing at this time, that you will not be recommending him and his employer for any future business, say thank you and hang up. Don't get sucked in, swear, argue or lose it in any way that gives them recourse. Then immediately call Toyota corporate and lodge a complaint against this stealer. Then also hang up and go enjoy a drive into the sunset if you want because they can't get your truck.

Sounds strange. At the dealer I worked for, there's no way in hell you'd be driving off the lot with signed papers AND a vehicle with NO credit approval. Getting approval on a credit app BEFORE the sale is kind of a big deal!!

The only legit thing I can think of, is if they found some information you "forgot" to disclose....

Thanks for all the help my 4runner buds. I will wait a week or two and see if this just blows over.

By the way, anyone who sais the rotten egg smell is gone in the 05 needs to drive my girl

You probably signed a "Recission Agreement", that allows the dealer to "spot deliver" your runner. It usually states that the car is being delivered without having bank approval yet. It says if they can't get you done you must return your car. The decision made to deliver the car without prior bank approval, is a judgement call as to weather, you are credit worthy or not. I've spent over 20 years working with Toyota dealers, when this happens, the car comes back, gets washed, the sticker gets put back on, and the car goes back to the lot.

By not returning the car, you could be on the wrong side of the law! Ask if you signed some sort of a "recission Agreement".

There was some legal jargon on the back of my sales contract. There is a recission claus on the back in small print. Mentions the dealer has 10 days to arrange financing. Bought the truck 3/10. They first raised this issue 3/21 and have yet to ask for it back.

Its in the contract so screw em.

Thanks for the info though
