To preface this thread, let me start by saying I've installed every mod to my 4runner myself (with a helping hand occasionally) to include the lift/suspension, both bumpers, sliders, winch with power disrupt routed to an AOB switch, ARB compressor routed to an AOB switch, and more. With that said, of all the things, the most difficult and time consuming for me is anything to do with wires and electrical. I thought about tackling my electrical by first building my own Bussman RTMR (yeah no thanks). I then decided, maybe I should buy the Tacoma Pros one, then discovered that still isn't the easiest way to go about things.
I've concluded that the SPOD source only box is in my future mainly due to the ease of use in hooking it up to AOB switches in the switch blank positions (this is the look I want, and don't care to have a switch panel). I don't have a lot of accessories, but feel that I have enough to require a relay box to avoid spaghetti wires in my engine bay (which when you view my photos below, it's beginning to look that way). I don't really care for light bars and all that jazz. The only accessories I have, and plan on installing within the next month are the following:
Warn M8000 Winch (Connected via Warn power disrupt to an AOB switch in the cabin)
ARB Compressor
Engel MT45 fridge (Need to connect a full time 12v outlet)
CB Radio (Not installed)
Rigid SR-M rear lights (Would like to run these to an in cab AOB switch)
These are the main things. The compressor apparently only runs directly from the battery, but from what I've found they make an adapter where you can run it to an SPOD if I'm correct. First of all, with what I want to run accessory wise, will I benefit from an SPOD? I might find other things to wire up down the road, but for now this is all I need.
Now that we've cleared that up, my main question is, when I do get an SPOD where will I put it, OR will I be able to put it anywhere without messing with my current mounts and configuration? View the photos below. Accessories on the right side of the engine bay include a Slee Offroad ARB compressor mount with the Warn power disrupt solenoid attached as well. On the left I have an Expedition One washer reservoir with the other stuff relocated behind the airbox. I'll be installing an X2 Power 31M battery in a Pelfreybilt battery cage, and would like to tackle this SPOD thing relatively at the same time. Here are the photos:
