Need Help: Front Sway Bar Nut Removal

Try putting some heat to it too. If you jack up one wheel at a time that will twist the sway bar and put pressure on the stud which should help some.

Great idea w/ the heat. That's how I got some extremely stuck lug nuts off before.

Cutting nut & getting new link is a good idea but a costly option. each link is about $72 online before ship & tax.

Stay tuned as I might try some of these ideas later today.

Spray it with penetrating oil once an hour for a couple hours and let it settle in before you go at it again.

Got it! I was able to get a regular pair of vice grips onto the back side of the bolt & it didn't seem to effect the rubber boot at all. I then heated nut/bolt with my plumbing torch. I put my box end wrench onto the nut and slowly turned till the vice grips wedged against the rotor. So before throwing the impact wrench on, I gave a light yank with the box end wrench. To my delight, it broke free with no problem. I wire brushed and put never seize on & put back together. I'm not ready to tackle the lift install yet as I know that'll take hours. But at least I'm gaining confidence in how to do it and more importantly, how to get these rusted bolts off.

Also, I can already see that the carriage bolt on the ball joint it going to be tough & doesn't have enough room for my impact wrench...unless I bought some type of swivel. My box end by hand didn't even budge it. So I plan to make up some cheater bars using pipe nipples and hopefully with the torch heat, that'll get the rest of bolts out.
