Just a couple things for next time.
In Canada, it is code to leave 6" of unsheathed wire in the box - starting at where the cable enters the box. For two reasons; 1) to have enough wire if you need to trim some, and 2) to be able to work with. The way you have your fixtjre wired, with an inch or so of exposed single conductor, is not incorrect per say, but it is a pain in the ass. If i come to wiring like that, i always strip it back to the connector, makes it easy.
The plastic boxes, the residential rough in boxes, still come with a ground screw and plate in them. Although the box itself is not grounded ( its plastic after all ) the connection is there to pass through from one device to another. The ground connection still needs to be made.
When you come to those keyless fixtures ( the plastic or porcelain ) they most commonly do not have a ground connection. It is fine to leave the ground wire coiled up in the box.
If the ground wire was touching the neutral, the breaker will not trip.
