need help if i dont get the trd rims

hey all, ok to start, i ordered/paid for some of the trd fj special edition wheels for my 4runner( the black ones) however i may not get them becasue of some limited edition bull shnazzy. There are only a few made and they need a vin of an fj or something like that so... i may need to choose something else. yall may have seen more wheels than me so i would love to hear your opinion. i really want to stick to the flat black look, maybe a little red on them if there are any out there. anyway ill post some pics of the rims and my truck. post pics please

If you cant get those, I would recommend the Pro Comp Series 7005 they are lat black just like you wanted. I have the chrome version (6005) and Love Em'.

Let me know if you want more info on them I have the part numbers you would need and everything.

Hey did ya catch the thread on "gotta have black rims" could be a low cost fix until you get the trd rims. I did like the procomp choice also though.

Ya those actually look pretty nice on your truck, do they come in a 16 or did you go 17? how much were they? Thats what im looking for, a lot of black an a litttle little little bit of silver. thanks!!
and with painting the rim i may do that to my stock rims and put some big tires on them down the road. but ya that guy in that video did a good job on that rim. I'd be oversparying so much haha.

The smallest they come in is a 17" they are currently $141.29 each at 4 wheel parts, I have seen them as low as $125.00 each. They are also a great option if you are planning to do the tundra brake upgrade in the future.

this is what i have, they're made by mb and i got them at discount tire. They are gloss black but the brushed aluminum around the edge looks so sick

I had no rubbing issues with the 17", it really depends on the tire size you get, I went with a 265/65/17 michelin LTX AT/2, i tried the BFGoodrich T/A KO's in A 265/70/17 but i did have rubbing issues with those.

You also expressed intrest in a red accent, they have these at Americas Tire (Discount Tire) for 175 each for a 17x9. They are made by Ballistic Off-Road and are called "Jester". Personally I would get the Pro Comps (actually I did ) over the Ballistics, but it's your truck.

oh man those balistics are way sweet!!! man you all found all kinds of wheels iv'e never seen before thanks! ive only seen the flat black american racing wheels that were close to what i like. but man that is one crazy wheel!! will the 17x9 fit without a lift? and ya tires haha have any of you tried pro comp tires? Big O seemed to have a good warrenty on their tires too. oh man decisions decisions.

edit: haha nevermind on those balistics, there still crazy lookin but seeing them on that tacoma hahaha that looked so funny lol i duno we'll see, maybe without those big bolts! procomps are way better!

Ya, the Ballistics look better in the picture than they do mounted. Those bolts are removable though, as for the pro comp tires, Pro Comp is actually owned/ is a division of 4 wheel parts, they are manufactured by Cooper Tires. I have heard good things about them, but they do not make a tire smaller than 33" that will fit a 17" rim, so unless you want to lift, no pro comps.

There is a 265/70/17 All-terrain and mud terrain but they are a 10-ply E load rating tire, I would NOT!! recommend these tires as they will ride horrible and they will beat you to death.

Also a lift would not affect the fitment of a wider rim such as 17x9, 17x8 etc. only spacers could help with that. The 17x9's should fit fine as long as they are the right backspacing. One good thing is Americas Tire will allow you to test fit them for free, if they don't fit, you don't pay.

oh wow thanks for that! ill eliminate te pro comps for now i really like those xtreme A/T's but yeah i gotta have a smooth ride. what about MT's? i want an aggresive tread that is also pretty good in the snow. and wet stuff. Swab tried to sell me these Open Countrys. they looked nice but man! $220 a tire was a little steep. but yea Big O and Discount tire rolled there eyes when i told them the trd rim dimensions ( i spelled that wrong haha) ive seen that they fit though so i duno i just want to get this over with! its makin me nuts! :bash:

Ya I went through the same thing, I went with the Michelin LTX AT/2's and they are fabulous. Not an extremely aggressive look but definitely more aggressive than a road tire. See my other post for pictures of the tire.

those mich's dont look bad at all plus its a brand name so you prob get good quality. do they have a warrenty? i saw these kumho's the other day that looked pretty mean. the guy said he got them mounted and balanced for 560 or something. like that. thats a steal with that i may throw some spacers on!

so wow! anybody thats looking for the trd rims, listen to all the forums and posts that people say about gettin them. the dearlership cannot get the black ones or the gun metal ones. they may not know they cant too. my guy worked it hard for me too. Dan from mark miller. he's awesome to work with. he did everything he can to get those rims however yes you need a vin to an SE fj, (i had that) than toyota wants a police report/insurance to even geat single rim. so ya.. a heads up. dont even bother trying at the dealership. private party is the way way to go goodluck!
dah now i gotta pick something else. any one know of some good websites of wheel and tire packages? i thinkin on those pro comp (wheels)

Here's my truck, with some more "basic" looking wheels.

They are Pro Comp 16x8", with 265/75R16 tires. Rubbing only occurs when the wheel is fully cocked one way or the other when I am backing out of my driveway and go down the curb bump.

Bummer on those SE's , Yes the michelins come with a 50,000 mile or 6 year warranty.
