Need Help > Locked my keys inside Runner (problem Solved)

Hopefully someone will tell me the best way to get into my runner. Its a 2004. I left the keys in the igntion, and shut the door. Now its locked. I didnt think it could do thatwith keys in ignition, but it did.
How to get in to it? Thanks

I have never actually tried to lock my self out, so I didn't think you could do it. This is why I always use the remote to lock/unlock the vehicle. If you don't have a spare key/key fob, then a locksmith may be the only recourse. Once they get it open, this would be a good time to get a spare set or two for the future.

you could luck out and have the dealer cut you a key to your vin number for free. My truck only came with one set of keys so the dealer kindly gave me a spare fob and master key.

the technical part is the key will be cut to your vin number's lock code which was made in 2004, so the new key won't be warn out like the one you carry regularly this sometimes causes the factory key cut by the dealer to not work at that point a lock smith is your only option

you may get lucky with a slim jim although I haven't ever used one on a 4r before so im not sure it will work.

Aaa

If you, or someone you know, have AAA, give em a call and they'll send someone out with a slim jim.

Not as elegant but a crowbar works too.

One advantage of my wifes Lexus ES-350. No key. Strictly the fob. You start the car by pushing a button on the dash. As long as the Fob is detected inside the car it'll start. Can't lock the doors with the spare fob inside the vehicle either.

I took the vin number to the dealer, and they cut me a key for $10, to allow me to get into the vehicle in a case like this. Doesnt have the chip, so it will not start the vehicle, but thats ok. Bought me a magnetic case and sit it atop the frame rail under the vehicle.
I then set my locks to option B, which is when it is put in Park all doors will open.
Thanks for the help.
