Ok guys, I hate to do this but I need some noise diagnosis help. I've searched and searched and havent found my answer.
I have a noise that i've narrowed down to the rear diff or a wheel bearing (or something else that I havent though of). The noise started of as a womp womp womp almost like a rumble strip and it was a slow rotation noise maybe 15 RPM, the noise did change with speed but literally never got to be more than 15-20RPM. Also the noise goes away completely in 4WD. When the noise first started a few months ago it was very intermittent and only surfaced when it was cold outside or after I put it back in 2wd from 4wd. I didnt think too much about it since it was very sparatic and the truck seemed to drive fine.
Well now the sound is constant and there all the time EXCEPT when the truck is in 4wd. Like I said the sound doesnt rotate now and is a constant sound that varies with speed change as well. It is sort of like a wheel bearing noise but not as loud. I cant hear the noise on the highway and it only makes the noise (that I can hear) between 25-50MPH. Now that its cold out I'm sure thats why the sound never goes away. I havent noticed the sound change with steering inputs either.
SO anyways i'm stumped, I'd love ideas and input.
Also before anyone says tires, they are BRAND NEW and still have the titties on them even, they literally have less than 500 miles on them and this noise was there with my old tires as well.
