hey guys nice to cyber meet all of you.i just purchased my first 4runner.got a 98' with 170k and no rust for $2700 in ohio.didnt do bad on price for it being a limited but it does need a little tlc to bring up to 100%.it needs a cd player.the one in it sniffs the cd and then spits it rite out.so i found this one on craigslist.will it work if my original one was the cd cassette 56808 panasonic model?here is link Car Radio/Toyota 4Runner 2006 thanks guys.

Maybe you just need to clean your cd player lens and also your cd's.

all my cds are in good clean shape.as far as cleaning the eye do i need to disassemble and clean with qtip an alcohol or what?if gthis doesnt work does anyone know if this 06 radio wil work with my 98 limited 6 speaker system

I really doubt that a stereo from a 2006 will be plug and play in your vehicle.

I just went through something similar when I installed an aftermarket DVD player. As far as wiring goes, all Toyotas '87 and up will have the same harness so you should be able to plug it right in, 6 speakers and all. Though the ltd will fit a double DIN size radio, you might have to tweak the cutout in the center console panel to fit. The original radio fit flush behind the center console, but looks like the 2006 one sticks out a little. No big deal, you might just have to cut into the corners of the panel a little bit. I'd sell you my old CD/cassette player but I might put it back in as the DVD player is a piece of junk.

if i can buy for 20 bucks or so it will be worth a shot.if not i can always sell it to one of you chaps.i wonder i will need there amp out of 06 just to be safe?
