SO i picked up a 95 Limited and No brake power.. i literally have to stand on the breaks and even then it wont stop. Thinking its a caliper problem since i bled them and put new pads on. Also it seem like when i hit the gas she dont even wanna move.. Could that be a transmission problem? or a power output (pto) problem? anyone know what could make the gauge say the vehicle is overheating other than thermostat (Its new). Kinna had to use some JB weld on radiator thought, not leakin but could that be a problem?. help plz got get he on the road.

I have merged your thread from 3rd gen No muliple postings please... See #8 http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?t=5809

To your issue(s). 1) If you put new pads on that means you had to collapse the calipers which kinda moves us past the stuck caliper issue. What about the vacuum booster? Or is electric? I know very little about the 2nd gens... 2) The brake booster took a dump or has a leak in the line that feeds it or there's some other major vacuum leak.

Let's try this scenario: The engine is running like crap due to blown headgasket(s). Therefore it never pulls decent enough vacuum to get the brake booster to work properly. It has no power because the headgaskets are blown. The overheating indication is caused by the blown headgaskets.

If it were mine I'd do a compression check, look for evidence of coolant in the oil or vice versa.

I think Chris is on the right track.Does the brake pedal go to the floor or is it hard to press and barely moves? Have you checked the compression?I think it has the cap on the radiator remove it and check to see bubbles or a lot of movement when you first start the vehickle. We use this when doing road calls. If you don't see anything still perform the compression test or a leakdown test for more concisive results.

Yeah, the pedal is very hard to press down and it barly moves.. Yeah chris, you were right

But the guy i bought it from is a marine buddy of mine. He said he fixed the blown head gasket, but he also did not tighten down the bolts all the way on the exhaust manifold. he is a ford guy and idon't think he knew what he was doing. Do u think a used engin swap mightbe cheaper or just check break booster /compression checkshouldremedyproble
thanks much guys, info already being helpful.
