need help shipping running boards

I'm putting my running boards up on ebay and have done some searching, but was a bit confused.

Is it better/cheaper to box them, or could I UPS them wrapped in plastic?

How much should I charge for shipping (just to cover my rear)?

I'd hate to lose $ on the shipping.

Thanks!

IMO putting running boards on ebay is a waste. I doubt you can get more than maybe $40 for them. Shipping's going to double that easily. Then you have to figure out how long it's going to take to get them boxed up and down to the shipper. By the time it's all said and done, you've spent a few hours of your time, money for boxes, money for gas to get them to the shipping location and money for eBay fees and at the end you might be lucky to net $30 - $40?

Ultimately it depends on how much your free time is worth. Mine is worth a lot. More than $40 for a couple hours.

If someone was dumb enough to pay $200 + all shipping costs I might consider it. But nobody in their right mind would pay that for running boards.

I would sell them locally on CL.

Donate them to Goodwill or similar charity. Attach a note describing what they are and what they fit. You can then at least get a tax deduction if you itemize your deductions. Better than throwing them in the garbage. It also helps the charity!

Great responses.

Hard to believe no one has shipped them. A few have sold on ebay recently with a wide range of shipping charged, so someone is buying them sometime.
