Need help! Transmission Drain & Fill

I know there’s a bunch of threads for the drain and fill on these 4th gens, but I couldn’t find anything that answered my question.

So, I did a drain and fill about two weeks ago on my 2008 4Runner 4.0 V6. Drained the transmission fluid just fine, about 3.5 quarts came out. I filled it back up with about 3.75-4 quarts. Got the tranny temp up to 118F and took the level check plug off, when I did, I was not getting a “small trickle” as Toyota says you should, so I filled a little more fluid in, etc. still wasn’t getting a trickle.

It’s kind of a long story, but to make it short, my father prematurely turned the engine off while the check level plug was off, so about a quart of fluid came rushing out and I lost it. Luckily I had bought 5 quarts. So I filled it back up to where I was getting a little flow of fluid coming out with the tranny temp in the 115-130F range. My question is, since it’s been about two weeks, would it be bad to get the transmission temp back up between the 115F-130F range and pull the check level plug again to see if I’m getting a steady flow, and if so...should I let the extra fluid out till I get that “small trickle”?

Certainly won't hurt to check. Fluid level is pretty important to the transmission, affects how well it performs in general. You should only have a light trickle when you put the plug back in. Make sure you shift through all your gears a few times before returning to park and leave engine running (Dad) when you check the level.
