need help: truck is running like crap...

ok i need some help on what could be wrong with my truck please! it started running like crap...shuttering, shaking and when i accelerate its horrible...garbley (dont even know if thats a word haha) and feels like it doesnt wanna go. i mean its an awful feeling...like the motors gonna fall out LOL
no, the CEL isnt on. and when in idle it runs perfect! when in park and revved up no problems at all. its only when accelerating. a few ppl said spark plugs. so i went to advanced auto parts and they ran diagnostic test. the code was PO300 - random or multiple cylinder misfire. so I replaced spark plugs. that didnt help at all. the wires look fairly new. could it be the coils? something else? anyone else had this problem?

what kind of spark plugs did you use?
nkg or denso only. same with coil packs and wires, that said once you've ran down spark plugs,wires and the rest start looking at a clogged injector ....
but most likely it's either a bad coil pack or your running the wrong plugs...
as on multi cylinders makes me think this, the coil pack fires 2 cylinders each so if you have a bad one it will show up as p-0300 as well.
 
it could be the coil packs, it could also be something as simple as a fuel filter... how many miles are on your truck? (suggest making a signature, it shows stats of your rig, like mileage (aprox), 2wd/4wd, motor, trans, ect.) this way we wont have to keep asking what motor or how many miles ect. so yeah how many miles are on it? do you have any previous service records? do you know any of the service history or the previous owner? just cause the wires look good doesnt mean they are. also a clogged fuel filter can allow enough fuel to pass to run at idle but when more fuel is needed to increase RPMs or accelerate under a load it might be starving the motor for fuel and hence your misfires(fuel filter is like <$20). new plug wires are like $40-60 and only get denso or NGK wires. coil packs are spendy, i think they are over $120 each(there are 3) so dont go buying those till you are sure thats the problem. a new fuel filter never hurt anyone or vehicle. have you done anything to the truck in the last day or so, like wash and detail the motor/engine? run though some deep water? gotten cheep gas(did this start after a fill up or getting gas?) what plugs did you put in the truck?, again i hope they were denso or NGK dual electrode/prong plugs only, anything else is junk and shouldnt be in there.
 
it could be a lot of things. do you know about cars / automechanics? Because misfires could be everything listed above or possibly a even cracked head / head gasket issue. I would suggest getting an in-person opinion before you randomly start swapping out parts.
 
Ok guys...just had a friends mechanic look at it...not good news :-(
He said its either torque converter or tranny. So now wtf?? Grrrrrr
 
something is not making sense here, a tq converter or tranny will not cause a misfire no matter how bad the problem. but thats besidses the point.

go check the radiator right now! tell us what you see, hope its not a pink milkshake.... also start the truck up and check the trans fluid level and color. report back ASAP

but if it is your tranny or tq converter that could explain why it didnt throw a code....
 
Kid....my friend has left now....so i dont what im looking for as far as looking at radiator. And i already checked tranny fluid the other day and its at level and clean....
 
pull the radiator cap off and look inside it, you are looking for foamy, pink color. check the over flow reservoir as well. look at the color what is it?

if its clean and green then you should be good for a no pink milkshake.
 
no you can check the over flow reservoir with out it being cold, and as long as its not hot you can pull the rad cap, just do it slowly to let it de-presurise and you should be fine
 
Ah, it was a stretch. I went to Highschool in Astoria with a Tyler Baird. He drove a white Camry, if you didn't gather that.

Anyway, your 4Runner running like crap. I have never seen that code by itself. That makes me skeptical that it existed. Usually it's accompanied by 301, 302, 303 (the third digit corresponds to the cylinder that's misfiring) and in your case, if it were a coil, I believe there would be a pair of cylindering misfiring. Like 1 and 2, 3 and 4, or 5 and 6.

Sorry, thinking out loud.

Edit** If I worked on commission and some girl came in with a misfire, I would read that code on her car too. Or I would think, "Why should I mention these other codes, she has no idea what I am talking about."

Remember, I do not think those things, I was thinking as a guy on commission.
