Need help with EVAP problem

Last night I changed the valve cover gaskets on my 2001. When I was removing the line from the VSV for the CCV (closed canister valve) as I pulled the line away from the metal tube that goes to the engine, gasoline leaked out of the rubber line. I never top off the tank. Can somebody explain the gas in the EVAP line? I had been getting a p0440 code and today it returned.

ok then. Can anyone tell me how to flush out the evap lines? IF there is charcoal particles in the lines, I don't want to put a new canister on it and have the particles infiltrate the system again. Someone suggested Brakleen for flushing out the rubber lines. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks
JR
