Need help with lock control rod

Doing the door lock actuator on my 2000 and cannot get the rod pictured out of the door handle. I have everything I can think of but it will not come out. On a YouTube video showing the replacing of the door lock the rod just pulls right out after the yellow tab is pulled off, but mine is not budging. Any ideas?
