Need Help With Sub Placement

Well guys, I picked this up the other day for Black Friday. Hoping for a 12' Alpine Sub however here is the tricky part..

I would like to put it in without having a subwoofer box in my trunk. I use it too often to have that much space taken up and have thought about a cargo drawer type thing and dedicating space to put it there. I also thought of putting it in the sides of the trunk somehow.

I was hoping for some new, not so simple ideas. Shoot away with your thoughts!

No matter what you do...it's going to be a compromise. You'll NEVER get the best sound quality from a small enclouser.

I think it sounds great, the 12w3 really pounds. I had it in a larger box built to the volume specified on the JL website but I don't think it sounded any better. This one is probably close to the same size but I never calculated the numbers because of the odd shape.

The amp is mounted under the passenger seat just because I've had it there forever and didn't want to deal with rewiring it.

I'm not sure how deep the sub you went with is, but the w3 is pretty deep and required the extra space so that it sinks into what is the cargo storage spot on non JBL 4runners. You could fit your amp somewhere in there, probably behind the enclosure or behind the interior plastic.

I did a JL amp very similar to that one under the passenger seat like many others. Then wired it straight back to JL W3 sub in a JL stealth box. It sounds incredible. I've always been surprised with the clarity and tightness of the lows.
