So I ordered a 16 TEP with KDSS and it should be here next Monday. I also already have my Toytec Boss suspension sitting in my garage new ready in the box that was delivered today. Here's the problem. Today I get a call and a local dealer has a 16 TEP non KDSS with 7000 miles and has ICON stage 4 lift installed and method NV wheels and 285/70/17 KO2's. Only thing I could find wrong was a pretty good scratch on the rear bumper. They are asking 39,900 for it. But is complete and ready to go. Will I notice a difference with the icon and no KDSS vs the BOSS with? The new one I have coming is $40 and change with the KDSS. WHAT should I do?!!! Thanks for any insight!!

I have not heard of anyone modding KDSS on to a model without it, you can always swap your lift out later to an ICON stage 4 if you wanted. Pretty damn hard/impracticable to mod KDSS on to the truck with the ICON lift. Also, I would not buy a used car that's only ~$1k less than a new one.

How long to plan to keep the truck and what do you plan to do with it...? I like simple proven and easy to work on, so I would avoid KDSS at all costs, but that is just me. Some people love it and don't plan to keep the truck very long or do anything crazy with it... It's not one size fits all.... There are pros and cons to both... Having most of what you want on it.. will save you a ton of money in the long run. The little stuff, tires, wheels, UCAs, alignments.. all add up real fast, so consider that if you have plans to mod...

Very few people would spend that much money to upgrade a vehicle with ICON etc., only to sell it @ 7k. Whom ever sold this vehicle likely lost their ass in the deal - and there may be a reason. It just does not make much sense to me. I would keep the NEW one coming to me. Also, the interest rate on the used one will be significantly higher than the new one; just something to keep in mind.

I doubt there is anything to be concerned about. People take big losses on vehicles all the time. I see a lot of people dump a 5th gen after just a few thousand miles. It is clearly not an ideal vehicle for everyone. I think the lack of power and poor MPG are somehow a surprise to many.
