Need Help!

Hey guys can you shed some light on this.
I replaced the front rotors on my 2004 Toyota 4 runner about 5 months ago, because after 3 times to the dealer for whinning breaks when stopping they could not fix the problem. When I did this I used Toyota OEM rotors. When I compressed the pistons in the caliper I loosened the bleeder screw as to not force brake fluid back through the ABS sensor when I compressed the pistons. I put the truck back together and the problem was fixed until the other day, when I took the truck in the other day for an oil change at the dealer. When they were doing the 10,000 point inspection they found that the pistons on one of the calipers was siezed and the boot on the pistons was torn. They fixed the caliper under the warranty, but after getting the truck back I now have shimming of the wheel at speeds when stopping. I took the truck back to the dealer and they are now telling me that the rotors are warped, I knew that that was what the problem was, but they just fixed the caliper, they should fix the problem with the shimming because it wasn't there before and it is now. My question is two fold first of all could the warped rotor be caused by the siezed caliper piston and second the dealer is telling me that the bearings need to be repacked at the same time as changing the rotors, is this true? I didn't have to touch the bearings or the dust cap when I originally changed the rotors. Any help or light on this situation would be greatly appriciated.

THank you

Yes, a stuck piston in the caliper can and most likely will warp the rotor. When the piston sticks in the applied position, the brake pad never really releases, and will over heat the rotor and cause uneven pad wear. And no need to do anything with the bearings. This is a 4th gen right?

How many miles is on your truck? You say they replaced the caliper under warranty, but if I'm reading this correctly you replaced the rotors yourself??

My guess is a rotor is not a warranteed part - its probably like brake pads? Strange that you had the shimmy after they replaced caliper and it wasn't there before. I'd explain their inability to fix brakes 5 months ago to service manager and fact that you replaced rotors and had no shimmy when ya came in. Perhaps they will eat some of the cost to turn or replace the rotor. On my old '90 4Rnr You had to disassemble the entire assembly (ADD hub, bearing cap/nut, etc) - so was simple matter to regrease. Know on my Camry the rotor just dropped off when I removed the caliper. If it drops off - and you don't ford streams - I'd say they don't need to be regreased and the service manager is wrong or looking to pad the bill.
