Need info on spare tire tool

I recently bought a 2012 Trail that did not come with any spare tire tools.
I need to know if the spare tire tool for lowering the tire from a Tacoma will fit my 4runner. I hope someone that access to both trucks would check it out for me.
The reason I need this is because I could not find any tools for the 5th gen 4Runner but Ebay has several for the Tacoma it looks similar but I cant be sure from the pictures. One ad says it will not fit the 4Runner another says it will. Which one is right? I have searched the interent and this forum to find out if the kit for a Tacoma will work on a 4Runner. I did find a thread about spare tools for 3 or 4 gen that said a long socket extension would work but that did not work for me.
I checked the local pick & pull but they dont have any 4Runners or Tacomas right now.
Of course I could spend several hundred bucks and buy one from a dealership. But I prefer to save some money.
Any suggestions on a aftermarket jack would be great too. I prefer not to get a hi-lift jack right now.

IIRC, a long 3/8" drive harbor freight ratchet extension worked great for my 4th gen., about 2 feet long.

At least go to the dealership or look it up online and get the correct part numbers for the tool you're looking for. Then ask the eBay sellers if their part is compatible or the same as the one you're looking for.

FYI, Toyota saves a h3ll of a lot of money $$ by not redesigning parts for every car they make. Simple things like cabin air filters, door handle trims, and more (possibly jacks) are identical across T4R, Rav4, Highlander and even Celica model lines. It's a good possibility the Tacoma tools are the same, but I wouldn't buy it unless I was reasonably sure. You can always re-sell or return it if it doesn't fit.

Spare Tire Tools

The tools look like this, the end is a little larger than 3/8 square, but an 3/8 extension may work.

The factory jack is a screw type, not hydraulic and it extends higher than you would expect.

Bobs Trail , Thanks for the photo and information. It looks the same as yours I think, relief . I did not realize its a screw jack, glad you told me . I should have realized because of the type of tool is for spinning not pumping...

I was going to say the same thing, IIRC it resembles the same set that what was in my 3rd gen. I know this truck is heavier, so wouldn’t be so sure about the screw jack rating but the kit itself... not much difference.
