Need input ASAP

The last month and a half my 2002 has not been running good. I had a JDM motor put in in may. I've had no problems until recently. The truck seemed down on power on the highway. At 4500 rpms it was like it hit rev limiter. Going up hills it didn't seem right either. At the same time I had a chirping noise from behind the timing cover. My mechanic has it now and found the belt tensioner was broke. He replaced that and timing belt. He thought for sure timing was off and was causing problems. He buttoned it up and it's doing same thing. He checked MAF sensor, cps, and made sure cat wasn't clogged . All checked ok. Anyone have input. He just called to touch base and is continuing to look for problem?

Start simple, work hard.

Any check engine lights? How's the air filter? Last time you gave it a tune up?

Do a compression test. I have read alot of horror stories about those JDM motors..

Thanks for replies. It's not throwing any codes and no lights on dash. Had a recent tune up. Air filter is a Toyota a put in about a year ago.

Ok found the problem. The crank pulley keyway was stripped. Needs a new pulley and keyway. Anyone have part numbers on these? Can't find at rock auto.

Are both the harmonic damper and timing belt cog compromised? If so, you may have bigger issues like a damaged crankshaft. What year/engine do you have although it really doesn't matter (unless you have a 4 cylinder) just want to make sure I know what you have.

First I wouldn't put RockAuto parts into your engine, especially not something that key to the engine running well.

Second what about your mechanic, the one that you mentioned earlier?

I buy all my parts from Camelback Toyota Online Parts.

I hate threads with subjects like this. Please put in 5 more seconds of effort and give a brief description in the subject; you may end up with a lot more help.

Well I'm continuing a thread from last week. The info was in my first post. It's a 2002 4runner . My mechanic can't find parts locally and asked if I could order them. The balancer and crankshaft are fine. What I need is the crankshaft gear as it's listed online and keywAy or woodruff key.
