Need Input on Choosing 315/75R16 Tires

Question about the MTR's. I assume you can mount them with either the white letters outward or the black letters outward. I prefer to have the black letters out. Since the tires are non-symmetrical, will this make a difference in how the tires wear or perform?

edit: both sides of mine had black letters so i had the tire guy put them how they show on goodyears website

How can anyone say that an MT tire is good in ice?? No tire is good in true ice other than studded tires. Compact snow is a different story... and still, no MT tire is 'good' in that either.
The above post says it all though... All terrain is the best way to go for that style of driving. Sounds like a debate of looks vs performance to me.

Well, I talked to the local tire shop today, and found out that the Goodyear MTR's in this size are on national backorder with no estimated availability date. There are a few sets of tires around the country, but I would have to pay an additional $200 for shipping.
As I'm weighing my options, I'm beginning to think this is a blessing in disguise. I really don't need mud tires for my daily driver. I'm starting to lean towards the Goodyear Duratrac now. Benefits are: less expensive, lasts longer, still good offroad, and good looks. They are E load range, but the weight is actually a few pounds less than my current tires.
Anyone running the Duratracs in the 315/75R16 size have any comments? How do you like them? Do they ride stiff?
