I am needing replacement rotors and pads for my 16 t4r Sr5 4x4. I was wondering what your guys are running? Ebc, Autozone, OE? I drive a tons of freeway with high speed and then lots of stop and go. Warped the rotors with on 45k on the runner.

Rear: AKEBONO ACT606
Front: AKEBONO ACT976

Rotors: There's a lot of good ones. I've used Centric, Beck/Arnley and Raybestos. They're all good rotors.
 
Wow! Warped rotors and worn pads at 45K. Interested in how this happened? Do you wait til the last minute to brake or something? Or is this common for the brakes to wear this quick?
 
OEM or Akebono pads.

What is the difference between standard and TRD pads (besides the price)? Has anybody had both and have an opinion?

Just got my 2nd year inspection done @ 37K, all 4 pads were just about metal on metal. Rotors were fine though.

NOTE: Traded in BRZ for 4Runner
 
on free way leave a reasonable distance with the vehicle in front of you .

I get 100K on my rotors but they do not distort ... what happens up in rust belt is they rust up bad ..rust blister on rotor faces..

I have used wagner rotors work good.
 
I don't know what breaks are, but you should definitely get OEM rotors and while you are replacing the rotors you should replace your brake pads
 
Put the PowerStop Extreme kit on mine. Cross-drilled and slotted rotors and more aggressive pads. Best brakes my truck has had.... And the only pads and rotors so far have been stock.

I got my Powerstop brake kit on Amazon.

Same kit... still loving it after about 10k miles. My first lasted about 1k miles when the rotors started warping bad after a heavily loaded, aggressive trip through the mountains. Emailed customer service and the immediately sent me a brand new kit, no questions asked that arrived in about 36 hours. I made sure to properly bed this kit in and it's been perfect for 10k miles, including 3 more trips through the same mountains.
 
NEVER buy the autozone or advance auto rotors. I had used them for several years on multiple vehicles with generally easy driving. They develop a shimmy and are not worth the cheap price you pay or the time required. Go by the other suggestions.
 
OE brakes on the 4runner are some of the best I've ever had, lasted 65k or so between pads and had the factory rotors for 170k or so
