Need New Headlights

After a pretty severe jumpstart wire meltdown (literally, melted and burned a hole into my left headlight), I need to replace the damaged part.

Does anyone know of a good source for quality OEM or aftermarket headlights? I'm dealing with a wife with cancer who is out of work, so cheaper is better.

EDITED: SEE PAGE 2 FOR BEFORE/AFTER PICS OF THE HEADLIGHT DAMAGE AND NEW LIGHTS INSTALLED.

PS. Never let well meaning in-laws use your car to jump theirs. No good dead goes unpunished and all that...

And if you're a religious person, prayers for my wife Lori would be appreciated.

If not religious - good vibes are also appreciated.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help! Have you guys used Rock auto or PartsGeek before? Any thoughts on the quality of their products?

What I wish I could find is new OEM lenses. I'd then have an excuse to pull the light apart and install halos and LED strips in place of the halogen DRL and signals.

Rock auto is great, they have cheap prices and really fast shipping. I've used them 10 times or so. Pretty sure their distribution center is in NJ, so you should get your order real fast.

I don't know about your area but they show up on Craigslist in mine pretty often for $50 - $100 for a set. Worth a look.

Good vibes for your wife's success in beating the cancer.

I have a brand new left headlight if you are interested it is the projector sport style part number TY841-A101L. the catch, one of the tabs on the top broke off in shipping, so they sent a new one. It is the thin tab that holds no weight, the light will still mount and work fine or the tab could be epoxied back on.

Just offering if you are trying to do this on the cheap. Light was around $100 new.

I have used partsgeek a few times. Once to replace the headlights on another car...got the 'select' cheap ones and had no problems...they actually looked pretty well made.

I got a pair of Sport 2006-2009 headlights on Ebay for $140 w/ shipping. Only thing that was broken was the top tab but all online Toyota parts dealers sells this replacement for $7.

Free

Can you use 2004 SR5 headlights? I just replaced mine. They have the moisture problem but would still be functional. Pickup in Waltham MA or pay for shipping.

Did you ever get new headlights? Looking to do the same soon and was wondering how you faired. Btw I've used Rock Auto a few time with success.

Im also in the market for a set of headlights for my 07. Can you guys clarify if the ones being posted are original headlights vs the aftermarket?

Update!

I installed the new headlights and took some pics. (I went with new Rock Auto headlights.) The lights are much clearer, have a better cut off and simply make the truck look new! Now I have to deal with the melted spot on the bumper and it'll be back to good enough.

I already filed out the black/red melted cable coating and charred part, but you can see the remaining gouges in the lens and in the second pic, you can see the groove melted in the the bumper on the driver's side:

Old versus new:

Clarity in the new versus old with lights on. You can see how much the foggy/chipped housing was blocking light passing through and this was in daylight:

I also wanted to throw out a BIG THANK YOU! for everyone's generous offers and prayers. My wife is doing well, they've already noticed the tumor size has shrunk. Tomorrow is her 3rd treatment and she's fairing "well enough." Not much more you can say about chemo - it sucks.

Woah much better! Thanks for posting follow up. I'm about to purchase the same for my buddy's 4runner. This makes me feel better about the RA purchase.

Great news about your wife.. sending more prayers to you and Lori's way!

Wish I would have saw this thread before I happen to have a already opened left hand light I could have just had you pay for shipping and take it off my hands
