I still have OEM housings, but replaced the bulbs with brighter ones (Philips?).

Short answer:
Keeping your halogen headlight assemblies?

1. Halogen - Philips H9
2. HID - don't
3. LED - don't

Upgrade the housings?

1. OEM for best performance and reliability - 2021 LED units (recommend non-Pro/Limited)
2. Morimoto XB - proper optics and DOT compliance but middling performance
3. AlphaRex - just no, these are terrible re-branded Chinesium junk
4. Got $$$? - go for a custom retrofit by BX, Kustom54, or other reputable shop.

Why do you need them? If clouded they are easy to bring back to new with some elbow grease.

I just purchased these from carid and won’t get them until May but like their simple look with good DRL.

Spyder(R) - Toyota 4Runner 2006 Black LED DRL Bar Projector Headlights

The custom retrofits are interesting, but i didn’t want anything too fancy and the price point is more than I am willing to pay for headlights honestly. Worst case, I put the old OEM ones back in.
