Need opinions looking to buy a 2002 sport edition

Hi I just found a 2002 Sport edition 2wd with 142,152 miles. I know it is a
2wd but I live in the southwest and only used 4wd maybe twice in the last 4 year with my tacoma. All the services is very up to date 150,000 mile service done, timing belt and water pump changed at 142,100 miles, new geolander AT tires including spare, and new windshield. They are wanting $7990 which seems fair. what do you guys think.

Sorry not what you are looking for, but I just don't understand buying 2WD truck/SUV.

I think it's a little high being it's 2wd, but it is at a dealer so I'm sure there's some wiggle room. And if you don't need 4wd, no sense in getting it. Just more stuff to have to maintain.

I'd try to talk them down from that price. When I first got my truck I didn't really care about 4wd or anything, but now I would like to have it, the great thing about having a 3rd gen is most of the parts are interchange able. So if I end up getting a 4wd Sport Edition which I really want to get, I can just swap my stock parts back on my truck and all my mods can shift over to the new one.

I did talk them down they were wanting full book before they were wanting $9775 before. It is hard here in NM, and also in Colorado dealers, and Private sellers have been adding 15-20% premium on 4runners.

Im Having them fix the hood scoop insert since it was faded they are repainting it. They are putting on a new matching spare at no extra cost. Fresh detail. The frame is clean clean no rust at all!! The 4runners last owners were in their 60's and babied it. the rear bumper has 2 quarter sized dents, oh well I will be putting an Addicted offroad rear bumper on it any way.

Looks good to me! I picked up my 02 2wd sport in October 2011 as a daily driver and I love it.

Don't listen to the naysayers. I bought the exact same truck in December except mine had 100k miles. Same work done minus the windshield and I paid $9,500. Prices are elevated in Atlanta, but you've found a good deal. Haggle a little to make yourself feel better, but if you don't need 4wd, like I don't, then no reason to pay for the utility you'll rarely, if ever, use.

I would compare it to others for sale in your area and judge from that if its a good deal or not. But then I would take in consideration the condition it's in. If it's really nice I wouldn't mind paying a little more.
As you can see I like me some Thunder Cloud Sport!!

I'm pretty sure all of the '02 Sport Editions came with a front skid. Maybe a previous owner didn't like it or more likely that they bent it up and just took it off.
