So my motor blew up two weeks ago. Destroyed 3 pistons and put a hole in block all that good stuff. So I had bought a motor off craigslist pulled oil pan everything looked good and spent 3 days putting it in.

Go to start it and notice its knocking pretty good. Sounds more like a piston slap but not sure was so pissed I havent been back to look at it. The only thing I can think is to double check timing and after that im SOL.

So I got 3 options since its my only car and i cant get to work with out it.

1. Sell the truck. Cut my blood sweat and tears and take huge money loss. Dont want to do this because I love the truck but im so depressed right now.

2. Look for new motor.

3. Rebuild motor. (Kind of interested in what some of you have paid for machine work.)
Engblder has full rebuild kit for 300.

Im basically broke and have $500 Into this new motor.

CL is always a risk. Maybe a 3.4 swap if you can possibly find one cheap? Or there is oregon engine rebuilders in Sandy, lifetime warrantee on their engines. Do you still have the blown motor? I'd use it for a core exchange if you did it that way.

Blown motor would not work as a core because it has a hole on side of block. I still have it though. The only thing that's worth keeping was the external parts and possibly the heads.

my 3.0 I'm rebuilding is missing a few parts (maybe) If you don't use yours you could sell me some parts at least... BUT. yeah.

I don't see the logic in a 3.4 swap for him. It's certainly not cheaper unless you get really lucky.

how bad does it sound? try for a video maybe? again I wonder if I have the same thing in which case I've already run it pretty hard, so it should last awhile. You could do what I'm doing, rebuild a spare one. Unfortunately your old block is useless.

If I knew more about the 3.0 I would come help you, I'm not too far away. Your knowledge would be just as good as mine.

Emailed engnbuilder today and got some quotes on machinr work I may just end up going the route because im so close to them and the prices he quoted me are really good.

So I got the motor in and running. But it seems to run really rough at idle. Has new spark plugs and wires. Distrubitor looks like its been replaced recently. What else should I be looking into?
