Need opinions on Undercoating and Clear Bra

A well installed clear bra won't peel. As far as maintaining it, you can wash as normal, and it shines up well with polish and wax. Just try not to get wax on the edges as it's harder to get it out of the lines.

There are windshield films out there, but they are garbage. They just get all scratched up from your wipers and after awhile you can hardly see out of them.

My previous white 07 F-150 had the clear bra. Guy had done two different window tint jobs and was very particular. He was at the house for 8 hours. We removed the grill piece from the hood so he could roll it over the edge. There wasn't templates back then, and he had to use rolls to cut to length. He used the micro butane burner to shrink at the sharp curves. He did say the white was the worst as the plastic starts to discolor/fade, as it is easiest to see......so you have to keep it waxed. Mine was in a garage at work and home.

He only had issues in a couple of spots and they never changed size or altered in 8 years. He stated you could remove it at any time, and it was not like breakdown vinyl entails after ~5-6 years.It was ventureshield at the time, but I think they were bought by 3M. The previous manufacturers started premiumshield, which he uses now.

I paid ~$400, maybe a little over for all that work. I asked about the new 4runner and he mentioned to use the premiumshield website to get an idea of the templates available, but the rolls are available also if needed.

Easier said than done. Being a detailer, PaintPrep&Body and PDR Technician. I've seen it all. Ive seen clear bras fully crack all over due to the UV Rays and they are a pain in the ass to remove especially if it's been on there forever, for metal surfaces an pinstripe wheel eraser tool could be used but when it comes to removing it on plastic bumpers that's another story. Light heat and a plastic razor blade.... Takes a while

I applied the Ziebart rust proofing and undercoating on my 1997 4runner. I drive the heavily salted roads of Minneapolis and St Paul and have no rust. Look at cars in your area to see if they have rust. Since many cars in my area are rusted and I plan to keep my 2014 for at least 10 years, $400 was money well spent at Ziebart.

I no longer value clear bras.
