today... was a very interesting day.

tons of insane stuff happened.

one of those insane things was a junker 97 4Runner with useable stuff ha.

so I got an OEM clock finally and a hood deflector.

I don't know if I like it though... I wanted your guys opinions.

here's pics

Obviously, such a subjective thing...

But where I am concerned, I do not care for the way deflectors look. I prefer the clean lines of the hood on these things. They also tend to get faded and look a little trashy.

But that's just me...

Do you have pictures from any other angles?

Right now I'm going to have to say no.

However I do like it on mine.
i was gonna say, I rememeber you posting your comparison of on and off. i agree, I like yours on.

What angle would you like? Itt's really dirty right now, did some trail running last couple days in the dry baked dirt.

I figured it was worth a shot since it's free anyway.

I just checked out your Car Domain page. I'm still leaning towards leaving it off.

It's really hard to change something on a car when your so used to it not being there. It felt so weird when I took mine off.

A picture in this stance maybe?

i guess you're right

i should really clean up the deflector first though, it's faded and stuff, a nice polish should fix that... that and my iphone camera sucks so these arent the greatest pics either.

so for the time being i'm not going to keep it on, maybe after a good polish ill try again.

I just hate to have this free and let it go to waste.

I do like bugshields but Im gonna have to say no to this one.....you runner looks better without it....that bugshield takes away shine to your ride. Problaby if it was a smoke or even chrome.... but if im not mistaken it looks like very dark and flat black.
but thats just my opinion ..If you like it..leave it on.

Can you clean the deflector up since thge dullness makes it a no-go but it looks like the AVS version but I like how mine looks and it's must in Colorado or your hood will just be chipped up on the leading edge and if imagine the dent I'd have if my former deflector didn't stop a golf ball size rock thrown by a semi.

If you keep it cleaned with window cleaner periodically it shouldn't get that "flat" look to it.

I definitely like it a lot more after seeing that last picture. It looks good either way.

If there were a few more black things on your 4runner it would look really good.

Peronally, I dont care for any plastic add on i.e bug deflectors, sunroof wind deflector, rain guards etc... But to each there own. As long as you like it, thats all that matters!

ironic clem haha because im picking up the green SR5 mirrors soon.

if i can refurbish is back to looking new(ish) I might slap it on. It might also look good with a different grille, im beginning to think it looks too tacky...

if i don't, i could always sell it, it's an OEM toyota part so why not.

i like it either way

sometimes stuff like this takes a little while to get warmed up to

when i took off my running boards, i really hated the way it looked for about a week, then i started to like it...now i love it

but the bottom line is, that truck belongs to nobody in here other than you, so when all is said and done, your opinion is the only one that matters

I only use the stuff since it performs a function since looks can be subjective and I prefer no deflector but they sand the roads here and w/o one the paint gets tore up.

I tried it on today on my drive to Riverside to the 4Runner yard.

Thing is, the thing scratched the front of my hood... so I'd need to get some sticky foam or something. The bumpers don't do it for me, they leave holes in your paint where they rub

Agreed. All the plastic add-ons I have serve a function that takes precedence over appearance or style. I think Ron's looks better than yours, and since he posted a picture of his license plate on the internet, you can now track him down and steal whatever you want off of his ride (that scooped hood would match your runner nicely) :D

My AVS doesn't even touch the hood and doesn't need bump stops but comes with them for those who don't trust the deflector to not touch the hood.

I agree with LINY.
The truck's yours, not anyone elses. Don't let people's opinions sway yours. If you like it, slap it on, if not, don't. It will grow on you, but ultimately the decision is yours my friend.
