Need Picture of '03 Sport w/ YU Pkg!

Anyone with a picture of a '03 Sport with the YU pkg? YU is the designation that equates to the AP code/Appearance Package on the SR5. In other words, a sport without the cladding.

I have the option of getting one of these in Galactic Gray or Ti Silver in the next 7-10 days...(currently showing freight status). My problem...haven't seen one yet. My understanding is that production started about 2 mos ago.

I was told that the Sport w/YU has a MSRP of $100 less than those with cladding...imaging that. I have a pending deal for invoice= $31,291 (I think this includes about a $400 advertising fee, but they have to go about 200 miles to get the vehicle) + $299 doc fee. Anyone getting a better price in the midwest on a Sport? I assume if it has cladding, I could get an additional $1000 off....but I'd rather have YU.

Also, anyone out there actually have a Sport with the optional airbags? It seems in the midwest, this is not a typical combo...So, in Toyota terms....this means sure it's optional, in the dealer's terms....fat chance of getting that option, buy a Limited.

I looked at some web sites, very few Sport models available, none without the cladding. But a lot of Limited's on the net:

'03 Sport with AP package spotted

Driving through the TJ Maxx parking lot and spotted a rig with the above description. It was a black sport 4x4 similar to my gray cladded ride. At first it was catchy, all black, everything. That is cool, reminds me of my '02 Sport 4x4, it was all black. The roof rack, trim above trailer hitch and cladding/bumpers were all shiny black, the ridges in the overfenders are still there. But what my wife reminded me of was I bought the 4Runner to take off road and the drive on the dusty, rocky farm. That glossy black paint WILL get the chips, scratches and wear, my grey cladded vehicle will hold up much better for what I like to do with it. The all color scheme is a cool ride for 99% city dwellers and occasional country drive, but the grey tough cladding is what I really liked and it is a breeze to wash and clean. Just my opinion. Remember, I had an '02 Sport with black glossy paint and can attest to the chips, scratches, tar and primer spots after 35K miles. The grey hasn't proven itself yet, but if it is like my other previous Toy's, it vehicle should hold up well. Please I have a very rare model. Six years from now people will say, "remember those grey '03's, they were cool and are built like a tank." The all black spotted above must have been on the road awhile, there was a ton of brake dust on the front wheels and permanent tags. No camera with me, sorry. I know it is like the fish story, but I am vindicated and feel relaxed that my grey is as cool looking as the AP. I can sleep again!

Now that is why I want to see one on the lot....I'm guessing this was one with the cladding painting by a dealer or other....I thought the YU package on the sports are going to have the smooth fender treatments like the limited. I honestly don't mind the cladding...and considering the $1250 cash incentive, I seriously considered one...love the looks plus the scoop! But it came down to wanting the optional airbags and it seems nobody around KC had a sport with the airbags....so we opted for a Limited sitting on the lot....$200 under invoice...so, basically I paid an extra $4k or so more but got some more goodies.

I definitely agree though, ten years and 150K miles down the road....I guessing you will have the last laugh.

Nice ride, I really like the silver. No last laugh, I hope your vehicle last ten years, it was more a personal thing for me. I had reservations at first about the cladding, but it has grown on me.

I'm with you -- on the silver, the cladding in gray looks good and is a bit distinctive. With the cladding going away, I'll be able to spot my truck in the parking lot.

And to think my wife wanted one in blue so that it would be different ...
