Need some advice!!

First post as a new-ish member! So I've got a 93 3.0 5 speed as a daily and a 94 3.0 auto with a bad tranny. The 94 has a few mods like a 2" lift front and back, steel bumpers front and back, snorkel, and a full custom built extended roof rack. I prefer the 5 speed though. I don't know whether to replace the auto tranny and sell it or just sell it whole or part it out. Keeping it would be redundant cause of my plans with the 5 speed.

What's the best opinion you guys have on what to do?

I'd say part it out!
If you were closer, I'd take it off your hands and use what I wanted, and then part the rest :biggrin1:

what are the transmission symptoms?

Strip what you want and sell the rest

if you part it out send me a PM, interested in the snorkel.

I'm really debating the part out just don't know if I feel like going through the work to get each piece pulled when someone wants it.

The tranny is slipping after it warms up. gives like a buzzing/whirring sound when I accelerate until it warms up and fails completely

It doesn't have very high miles for the age. It's at about 188k if I remember right. Just whoever filled it right before I bought it overfilled it and it heated up bad after driving it for about an hour going 70 mph

My first project with an auto tranny had that issue, and a reputable tranny guy told me there's a direct drum in the transfer case that is supposed to be held by the case with some tabs. Those tabs wear/break/something and then the drum moves, which takes away any output of the transmission. He said most of those A340H trannys last about 200K. Mine had 240K on it.

Either way, you'd be looking at getting one from the wrecking yard, and r&r'ing the thing, which is all doable, but some work.

Ya I'm not sure I want to bother with doing the repair just to turn around and sell it in hopes of making my money back. People around here can be kinda cheap. The guy I bought my 93 off of said he would take it for $750. The damn aftermarket parts are worth more than that parted out at used prices haha

Also in need of advice

Unfortunately as many know new members cannot post until 15 posts. So maybe one of you 2nd gen owners can help me. I just purchased a 93 SR5 auto(3.slow). The seats need some work. Shops have quoted me rediculous amounts to replace the leather. (1200-1800$). Does anyone know if the 3rd gen seats bolt in? Or of any other car I can bolt in with minimum fab work? I have searched for a thread discussing this but haven't had any luck. Any advice is appreciated.
