Need some help/ideas. (Cooling Problems)

Different truck, but same things happened to me on my Nissan Armada. Turned out the radiator cooling passages were blocked. I also had bubbling in the expansion tank but it was caused by boiling water due to the immense heat. I would replace radiator and run a solution through your coolant passages and check on the heater core as well to make sure it isn't blocked.

While doing all this, remove the thermostat you bought and test it in a pan of boiling water.

Once all these are done, you should have covered all your bases.

thats usually not necessary, unless its leaking. you can flush the system while its in the vehicle, and if thats not enough, you can remove it, and take it in and have it flushed, and tanked. much cheaper than replacing the rad.

oh and when i say flush, i dont mean a drain, and refill. i mean using a chemical flush, specifically for cleaning the rad due to blockage, and overheating.

My bet is the radiator is shot. Mine did same thing, replaced radiator, fixed problem.

Just to post the answer to the problem for anyone that might search this thread later. It ended up being the radiator. Replaced it finally when all this was going on and the truck has run great ever since (save for a bad plug wire).
