Need some Help

About three weeks ago, one cold morning, I got some lights on the dash....

Engine Light
VSC TRAC
Traction Control? (Car with 2 lines)

The 4runner sounded rough, didn't sound like much air was getting to the engine. So my dad had a guy get the codes (Dont remember the codes) but he said that it was a TAC module. After two weeks, he finally got around and replaced the throttle body. It ran fine for a week but when the temp. got low, the lights came back on. I don't know what it could be, bad Mass Air Flow sensor? Some sensor?

My 4runner is a 2005 4runner v8.

I'd try the gas cap. Make sure it's on snug. I got mine tested for emissions this year, and the guy who tested it pulled off the gas cap but didn't re-tighten it fully.

When I cranked the truck later that afternoon, my dashboard looked like a Christmas tree. Fortunately I run a ScanGauge, pulled the code, Googled it from the driver's seat and found it was just a gas cap.

Turned off the truck, re-tightened, cranked again, lights and codes gone.

Its on pretty snug. I don't know if its bad though.
 
This exact thing happened to my rig a couple months ago. I have a 2004 Sport V8, after a week of delay or so because I needed to get to class I took it to the shop and they did some work to it.

I tried the gas cap thing and it didn't do anything. I tried just about everything and nothing helped but once I took it to the shop they fixed it all
I'd recommend getting it checked out

You really don't provide us with enough information to really help you out. With the 4th gen 4Runner if a DTC is set the MIL, VSC, and TRAC lights all illuminate on the dash even for something like a misfire code. There are a number of things that can cause an engine to run rough or sound as though it isn't getting enough air. I also am not sure what a "TAC" is? There is a IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) and these do tend to get sooted up after a while and could cause some issues.

We really need to know what the codes are along with the repairs preformed to properly diagnose the issue you have otherwise we're just grasping at straws. I don't mean to put you down, we just need more information to properly help you out. :)

The reason I was asking about the battery being disconnected is because I installed a new stereo and disconnected the battery in the process. When I reconnected, the engine was idling very low and even cut off a few times. In addition, several dash lights came on. Called my mechanic and he said the computer needs to "relearn" the proper idling speed and the lights came on because the key was in when the battery was disconnected and the O2 sensor wasn't getting proper current. My mechanic reset the codes and everything is fine now.

Would it help if I said that it idled fine and never cut off?

I know, I was told that in the throttle body, there was a TAC module of something? I'm not 100 percent sure but IF my dad gets a guy to pull the codes, I'll write them down and put them on here.
