Hey everyone...Im looking for some assistance with figuring out what may be wrong with the touchscreen on our 4Runner: 2011 4Runner, Limited with touchscreen/Nav...the touch screen stopped responding to input a while ago when I was deployed. My wife took it to the dealer while I was gone and they said the whole system needed replacing (upwards of $3500).
The stereo still works with input from the steering wheel controls, but obviously anything that requires typing or touch option is not working. The most glaring loss is the bluetooth, as my wife can no longer pair her phone.
I find it hard to believe that the whole system needs replacing, but I could be wrong. I did a search here on this site, and didnt find too much info on this except trying to pull fuses to "reset" the software, or maybe the software needed updating.
I went to the dealer today, armed with the knowledge of the software, and didnt get much help except to "bring it in and they would check".
Before I shell out the $ for the dealer to "look" at it, has anyone had any experience with this issue to the point of being able to fix the touch screen?
Is the software update a legitimate fix?
I also looked into dropping in an after market radio, and the cost is waaay cheaper, but I'm looking to retain the back-up camera function. Is there an after market radio that will retain the back-up camera?
Thanks in advance for any assistance given.
Matt
