My original key on my 1984 4Runner is completely worn out to the point that copies of the key do not work properly. I have taken out the lock cylinder of the passenger side door and have found an imprinted code of the form C where #### is a 4 digit number and A is a subscript letter.
The guy at the dealership says that my car is too old to be in the database and the ####A code is not in the data base. Is this true? I also gave him my VIN, which also was no help.
Can I contact corporate Toyota for more info, or do I just have to pull the lock cylinder and a have a locksmith cut me a new key?
