need to pass SMOG!

I need to register my truck, but I didn't pass SMOG, the knock was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy high. I replaced the O2 sensors but I'm sure I still need a cat. I found a brand called Walker for about 150. Any experience with this? Or anyone find a cheaper California legal one?

What exactly was the issue? Idle? or At speed?

California has the highest standards in the country, for good reason, but it means that Cat's run more expensive to be California legal.

Did you actually let your cat warm up before being tested? Driving for a good 20-30 minutes to really get the cat up to temp.

Had the same problem, replaced a crap load of stuff before pinning it on the cat. Ordered a walker unit from Napa Auto (think I paid $150) as well. My numbers will still higher than the should have been but I passed. Running a SC, URD 7th, FTC and 2.2 pulley.
Hope that helps. just make sure you get the right walker cat, and print out the list from CARB that says that CAT is legal in CA. olice:My smog guy couldn't find it in his catalog but I had the list from CARBs website.

yeah I drove for a little bit and the guy said that if it was a little cold he would pass me, but my nitrous oxide number at the low speed was 1715 and the max is only 512!!! I guess cuz there's no EGR that replacing the cat would be the only way. am I wrong?

I'm betting a beer that it's the cat. I replaced everything it could have been (after testing the 02 sensors). Also truck needs to be good and hot so the cat is at operating temp.
