Need to soften the ride

Where are you getting that info? I havent seen anything on any of the toyota oem parts websites stating whether or not any of these coils are fixed rate or progressive. On this website some of the coils listed say they are for the "off road package", and others are not. I assumed that the "off road package" coils are progressive while the other are fixed rate. However, I dont know for certain again as they dont state it anywhere.

We have to get to the bottom of this! Need progressive coils!

Unfortunately the only specs I found were for aftermarket,not OEM. I searched Rock Auto (entered 2003 Tacoma) and found Moog # 81104 and AC Delco # 45H0376. Moog's are 595 lbs/inch fixed rate,no specs on AC Delco but the picture shows the same spacing between each coil except for the very last one http://images.wrenchead.com/smartpages/partinfo_resize/DCL/45H0376_Primary.jpg so I'm going to assume they're fixed rate.

Did some digging in ToyotaPartsDeal database; here are the part numbers for Tacoma progressive coils with the Off-Road Package (according to them):

Left
48131-AD020 (2.7L)
48131-AD040 (3.4L Manual)
48131-AD050 (3.4L Auto)

Right
48131-AD010 (2.7L or 3.4L Manual)
48131-AD030 (3.4L Auto)

Thanks for posting photos. Looks like these are stock height since my OME 880 measures 37" which is supposed to be 2" higher than OE (96-98).

I'm still all over the place in terms of what to get but I'm leaning towards KYB Gas-A-Just based on this thread due to low cost and general recommendations, including my mechanic. TRD's are $200/corner new or $80 used on eBay. Monroe OESpectrum not recommended much but the quick struts would make it so easy to install. Coils - Ill likely go with Moog from Rock Auto - dirt cheap at $100 for all 4.
