Neglected paint

My daughter has a small black car which has heavily oxidized paint (particularly on the top) and the hood is also contaminated with fine metal particles.

1. I plan to wash it good
2. clay bar the hood ..Mothers California Gold Clay Bar system
3. use a rubbing compound (by hand of course)on both the hood and top (most heavily oxidized surfaces) ..3M heavy duty rubbing compound.
4. Polish the entire vehicle with orbital polisher ..(Meguiar's Deep Crystal polish)
5. Wax the entire vehicle ...(Meguiar's TECH WAX)


This seems the prudent course to restore this finish my only question is whether using the rubbing compound after the claying could cause any problem (perhaps too abrasive) ?? I would love to hear any thoughts you guys may have; sorry I don't have a picture of the car's condition.

Years ago we had a Ranger with heavily oxidized paint. We used something like Meguiar's Deep Cleaning Car Wax (or some name like that) which did an amazing job restoring the paint without abrasives. They probably still have a porduct that will work, but under a different name.
