CAUTION: STORY ENCLOSED. COULD BE BORING. HERES THE QUESTION I AM TRYING TO ASK::
SHOULD I GET A NEW SERPENTINE BELT? 165.00 installed.
So I had to go to Wal-Mart yesterday to buy groceries and I had been driving around for about 60 miles with my MAINT light on and the dealership is closed by the time I get home from work so I think to myself, "self, walmart can do it while i shop for my groceries" well, so I hurry to the store and they are about to close and ask them nicely if I can have them change the oil real quick? they say yeah of course and so here's where someone should have run in with a stupid sign and slapped it on my forehead.....
I get my car back an hour later after everyone had gone home from automotive, start it up and hear a HORRIFIC whining noise. Oh no I thought, what did they do to my car?!?!?!?!?!
I yelled at Walmart Manager and got my 29.00 back but still didn't know what this high pitched whining was coming from the engine. What could they have touched???
I took it to the toyota dealership today and they said that whoever changed it just got careless and spilled oil on the serpentine belt. BUT here is my question
He quoted me 165.00 for a new serpentine belt installed --- should I get it? That seems like a lot of money for a new belt? Toyota dealership guy says that there is a chance the sound might not go away (and it's really loud). Sounds like a nest of birds got stuck in the engine and won't die.
