Saturday night I was trying to catch up and get some ads done. My wife had ordered dinner and I had agreed to go pick it up. I was caught up in my work, so the time had passed pretty quickly. She finally yelled down that it should have been ready by then. I was still thinking about what I was working on when I went out into the garage. I hit my garage door button next tot he door, then walked around and got in my truck, which is what I always do. For some reason, as I started to back out, I hit the button on my remote in my truck.................this is when the flurry of obsenities started to fly. I didn't go back more than a foot, but I knew what had happened. I pulled back up and got out. the bottom of the door caught the edge of the spoiler and then raked across the top of it. Need less to say I was pi$$ed and didn't really feel like eating. Anyway, it wasn't as bad as I had thought and I could have polished the majority of it out, except for a screw had ripped through the paint pretty good. I took it this morning and dropped it off at the shop. It is only goin got be about $200. I will be so glad to get her back.

One thought -- does the garage door need to be adjusted so it would reverse more easily?

It reversed fine, it was just that the bottom edge had passed the top of the spoiler so when it hit it, the bottom edge of the door was just about even with the leading edge of the spoiler. When it hit the door went back up, so it really raked up the edge, then across the top...........uuuugggghhhhh!!!!! I just had too much on my mind. At least it was just the spoiler and nothing else. The door was fine too.

Well, since it was just the spoiler, you could also consider replacing it if needed. Glad that the roof wasn't damaged.

Nope, no pictures....:twak: .....:satan: At the time I was too pissed and almost didn't even go pick up dinner. It didn't even cross my mind to take pics.

When I went to the body shop, the guys said it would not have to be replaced. It did scuff the roof a little, but I can easily buff it out. I messed with it on Sunday with some Griot's Speedshine and a microfiber towel and that alone was getting it out. When I get ti back from the shop I'll put the Porter Cable to it. The way the spoiler stands above the roofline, I'm not too worried about it.

Sorry to hear about your mishap momo - reminds me of when my mom took out the garage door with her Lexus about 8 years ago. Their house is L shaped with the garage facing sideways from the street. My dad had just left and hit his button to close the door as he pulled away on the street - unable to see in the garage where my mom had just gotten in her car to back out. Needless to say they had to get a whole new garage door

Don't feel bad my wife was pulling out of the garage in her 02 Highlander and cut the wheel to fast and hit the track the door rides on and did $950.00 worth to her car. Insurance covered all but deductable. Guess your damage is to cheap to have insurance cover it?.

Anyway stuff happens It could have been alot worse.
And look on the bright side you will never do that again.

I feel your pain, a few years ago my friend parked her car in the middle of the driveway and left it their, thinking of course I was alone and noone was in the driveway I backed out, soon as I saw the reflection I hit it, only took out her headlight but still I was pissed, of course my bumper was garbage.

Mind was going in all different directions, I bought her a new headlight housing and told her next time park where I tell you to :50cal: not where you want to leave it:arrow: she was really light headed cause 6 months later she parked her car at a gas station but left it on the side where or the big rigs fuel up and a tanker was rolling back and her car was a pancake

Damage

Glad it wasn't worse. Here's something to minimize your stupid feeling: Brand new Black '93 Jeep GC. Pre-Homelink days, so I had installed a Stanley "flash [hi-beams] to open" garage door transmitter under the hood. [Always the gadget guy!] Beautiful Sat. morning wash in driveway. Cul d'sac - plenty of neighbors to see this. Keys & fob on workbench IN garage. Somehow trip alarm ? Horn's blowing, lights flashing, I try to de-activate in car - Right! No way! Everybody's watching by now, to see me sprint [8 feet] toward my keys. Remember that transmitter? I sure didn't! That door clotheslined me exactly face high! God! Dazed the sh** of me. I'm laying there dizzy, hurt, embarrassed, thinking this could not possibly get worse? Oh yeah? Mite take a look @ that door coming down!!! I decided not to add self-guiotining to my neighbor's Sat morning show, & just rolled on into the garage! :behead: My old neighbors [I just went ahead & moved!] kid me to this day about my "self-portrait" on the aluminum door.
Feel any less stupid, MoMo?

Don't really have a problem with making an azz of myself infront of other people, noones perfect and Im an attention whore but it hurts so much more when you damage the vehicles, it's almost like you just got shot and if you don't tend to the wound that second you could die:50cal:

That was funny.

I ended up marking my wifes bumper with the garage door because we swapped parking spots so I had more room to install my new PIAA's, and did not realize that her car was no completely in the parking spot. Keep in mind, this is exactly one week after picking it up from the body shop for a Deer collision: now she has a nice gauge in her Honda Accord bumper. Good thing she does not let stuff like that get to her.

Crash

Don't feel bad. Several years ago my wife backed out of the garage in her 4Runner into the driver's side of my Taco. I was standing inside looking out the window watching it all. I think they heard me screaming in China, but my wife didn't. It was not PRETTY! She looks now before she backs up. I still get hot thinking about how much money that wasted...and explaining it to the insurance company!
